President Lin Shangli Conducts a Survey on Talent Development at Suzhou Campus

From September 20th to 21st, President Lin Shangli visited the Suzhou Campus to inspect the talent development work. He gave directives on the reform of talent cultivation at the International College, Sino-French Institute, Silk Road School, and School of Smart Governance, aiming to promote the comprehensive reform plan of the Suzhou Campus.

On the afternoon of September 20th, a special meeting on talent cultivation at Suzhou Campus was held. President Lin attended and delivered a speech, with Vice President Zhi Xiaoqiang presiding over the meeting. Lin Shangli put forward three key requirements for talent development at the Suzhou Campus. First, adopt new ideas. Efforts should be made to align closely with national strategic needs and integrate with key national projects. Second, form a new framework. Deep collaboration should be pursued with various schools, institutions in the Yangtze River Delta, and other high-level universities across the country in critical areas such as curriculum development, training program design, and faculty allocation. Third, serve major national strategies. It is important to adhere to the combination of industry, academia, research, and application, building a talent cultivation model of “100 people as one team, project-based groups.”

On the morning of September 21st, Lin Shangli met with the Consul General of the French Consulate General in Shanghai, Benoît Guidée, to discuss further collaboration on talent education and development between China and France.Lin also visited newly appointed teachers and representatives of visiting faculty at the Suzhou Campus, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with determination and contribute to the enhancement of talent cultivation quality. He emphasized the role of teachers in nurturing students to become pillars of national rejuvenation and pioneers of the country’s future.

During his visit, Lin Shangli inspected the construction of the Suzhou Key Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Social Governance Technology and listened to a report on its progress. He also met with new graduate students from the School of Intelligent Governance, encouraging them to strive to become learners, researchers, innovators, and pioneers in the field of intelligent governance.

Lin Shangli and his team made a special trip to Soochow University for a survey, where he had in-depth discussions with Soochow University President Ying Hanjie on topics such as local development, talent resource sharing, and the joint development of humanities disciplines.

During the visit, Liu Xiaotao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, met with Lin Shangli and his delegation. They discussed deepening cooperation between the university and the local government, particularly in promoting the integration of industry, academia, research, and application in the fields of artificial intelligence and intelligent governance.
