On February 9th, Renmin University of China signed a deepening cooperation agreement with the People's Government of Suzhou. The Suzhou Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Renmin University of China and the Suzhou Artificial Intelligence Laboratory were unveiled, opening a new chapter in the cooperation between the university and the local government.

Zhang Donggang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Renmin University of China, Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China, Liu Xiaotao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, Wu Qingwen, Deputy Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Suzhou attended the event. Zheng Xinye, Vice President of Renmin University of China and Director of the Management Committee of the Suzhou Campus, presided over the event. Zhu Xinkai and Gu Haidong signed the "Deepening Cooperation Agreement between the People's Government of Suzhou and Renmin University of China" on behalf of both parties.

According to the agreement, both parties will give full play to their respective advantages and further deepen the cooperation between the university and the local government on the basis of existing cooperation. By establishing a new type of institute, creating a highland for talent aggregation, innovating the talent cultivation model, and establishing an open exchange platform, they will jointly build a demonstration highland for the integrated reform of education, science and technology, and talent. They will work together to build the Suzhou Campus of Renmin University of China into a new growth pole, a new engine, and a new strategic fulcrum for the development of Renmin University of China in the new era, and fully support Suzhou Industrial Park in building a world-class high-tech park with openness and innovation. They will also comprehensively assist Suzhou in taking the lead and setting an example in promoting Chinese-style modernization.

The Suzhou Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Renmin University of China and the Suzhou Artificial Intelligence Laboratory will actively serve major national strategies, focus on technological applications and empowering the regional economy. They will form a differentiated development pattern with the Zhongguancun Campus's Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence of Renmin University of China, which focuses on theoretical innovation and the integration of humanities, in terms of construction positioning, discipline development, scientific research directions, and regional services. Guided by the principles of "product-driven, service-driven, and contribution-driven" and aiming at major original innovations, they will accelerate the construction of emerging artificial intelligence disciplines and interdisciplinary disciplines in intelligent governance, and strive to build an integrated platform for the government, industry, academia, research, and application, providing strong support for cultivating and developing new productive forces.
