Elsevier Senior Vice President Visits Renmin University’s Suzhou Campus
Arnold Pippel, Senior Vice President of Elsevier, and his delegation visited Suzhou Campus of Renmin University of China on the afternoon of March 25 for research and exchange.The discussion was attended by Sun Yan, Managing Director of Elsevier’s Global Journals China; Jiang Feng, Senior Publisher of Elsevier’s Global Journals; as well as university representatives such as Ji Yanyong, Dean of Suzhou School of Artificial Intelligence; Zhang Wei, Vice Dean of Sino-French Institute; Yu Kun, Deputy Director of Suzhou Campus Management Committee; and Song Lu, Vice Dean of School of Smart Governance. The meeting was chaired by Jiang Xiaoli, Deputy Director of Suzhou Campus Management Committee.
Elsevier has long been dedicated to integrating scientific publishing with artificial intelligence techonology, committed to promoting the application of AIin scientific publishing, exploringpathways for AI to transform the logic of research and publishing, and refining the research integrity system in the AI era.. Pippel expressed the hope that Elsevier could leverage its strengths in academic publishing, data resources, and technological tools to collaborate with the Suzhou Campus in areas such as AI-empowered research innovation, research integrity, open science and global connectivity, as well as supporting Chinese scientists’ engagement in international AI governance. This collaboration aims to facilitate deeper global connections for Chinese research and to achieve the international dissemination and translation of research outcomes.
During the visit, the delegation toured the teaching buildings and the library, and viewed an exhibition on Wu Yuzhang, gaining insights into the campus’s development history, overall environment, and the educational practices of the Sino-French Institute. At SuzhouSchool of Artificial Intelligence, Dean Ji Yanyong briefed the delegation on the school’s latest progress in empowering disciplinary development and supporting local economic and industrial growth. The two sides exchanged views on the academy’s research and application advances in three key areas: “AI+government services,” “AI +semiconductors,” and “AI+low-altitude economy.” Pippel commended the academy’s achievements in applying cutting-edge technologies and fostering industry integration.
The visit laid a solid foundation for deeper collaboration between the two sides. There is vast scope for cooperation in AI-empowered research innovation, research integrity, youth talent cultivation, and student internships and employment. Moving forward, both sides will work to further align resources and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
