On July 6, the 2026 Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony of Renmin University of China (Suzhou Campus) was held, as 450 RUC graduates, having reaped the fruits of their academic pursuits, set off toward their ideals and distant horizons. On July 5, the release ceremony of the Outline of Humanomics and the opening of the inaugural exhibition of "Great Ideological and Political Education in Images: Humanomic Practice in the Yangtze River Delta" were held at the Suzhou Campus of Renmin University of China. Zhang Donggang stated that Humanomics is a major theoretical proposition put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping, a significant innovative achievement in the Sinicization and modernization of Marxist political economy;, and an economic theory dedicated to building and sharing a new model for human progress. Renmin University of China has taken the lead in the research and interpretation of Humanomics. Going forward, the university will continue to deepen theoretical interpretation, root itself in Chinese practice, and improve the integrated chain of ideological and political education across primary, secondary, and higher education, so as to write the contemporary chapter of Humanomics. Fan Bo noted that Suzhou's more than 2,500-year history has cultivated unique humanistic advantages. The city will treat the deepening of research and practice in humanistic economics as a key lever for promoting high-quality development, exploring practical pathways for the mutual integration, symbiosis, and mutual promotion of humanities and economics.. The Outline of Humanomics was released at the meeting. The book has Zhang Donggang and President Ma Huaide serving as general advisors, Professor Gao Debu of the School of Economics as head of the research team, and a research team composed of young and middle-aged backbone teachers at the Suzhou Campus. It systematically interprets the academic origins, underlying logic, and historical inevitability of Humanomics, with focused analysis of core research areas including humanistic management, cultural economy, humanities and technology, and humanities and the environment. The national inaugural exhibition of "Great Ideological and Political Education in Images: Humanomic Practice in the Yangtze River Delta," jointly created by Renmin University of China and Xinhua News Agency, was unveiled simultaneously. Fan Bo and Zhang Donggang jointly inaugurated the exhibition. Centering on dimensions such as the inheritance of cultural heritage, innovation-driven development, ecological livability, and regional coordination, the exhibition uses documentary photography to interpret the integration of tradition and modernity. Fan Bo delivered a "golden ideological and political course" using the planning map and actual scene photos of Suzhou Industrial Park as teaching materials, while ideological and political course teachers at the Suzhou Campus conducted on-site guided teaching. On 6 June, the ‘China Humanities Development Conference (2026)’, jointly organized by Renmin University of China and Soochow University, was held at Renmin University’s Suzhou Campus. Under the theme ‘The Humanities in the Digital Age: Cultural Heritage, Development and the Construction of an Autonomous Knowledge System’, the conference brought together over a hundred experts and scholars from across the country. Ma Huaide, President of Renmin University of China; Zhang Qiao, President of Soochow University; Jin Jie, Member of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Head of the Publicity Department; and Wang Chengbin, Party Secretary and Vice-Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Association for Social Sciences, attended the opening ceremony and delivered addresses. The ceremony was presided over by Wang Xiaohu, Vice-President of Renmin University of China. In his address, Ma Huaide noted that the digital age presents both opportunities and challenges for the humanities, and that RUC is actively advancing the deep integration of digital technology with the humanities. He called for anchoring research on frontier issues, generating original theories on digital ethics and human-machine relationships; reforming the research paradigms of the humanities, promoting cross-fertilization between intelligent analysis and fields like cultural heritage and social governance; and preserving the profound essence of the humanities, ensuring that technology serves human development. Wang Chengbin proposed three dimensions for advancing humanities and social sciences: consolidating the "digital foundation" of cultural heritage through inter-generational continuity; constructing an "digital paradigm" for the independent knowledge system through cross-disciplinary empowerment; and cultivating the "digital atmosphere" for social civility through digital accessibility. Zhang Qiao emphasized the need to safeguard cultural roots, guiding humanities research from "ivory tower inquiries" to "timely answers." Jin Jie expressed the expectation that the three parties would jointly build a new highland forXi Jinping Thought on Culture, co-develop new achievements in independent knowledge systems, and co-create new platforms for cross-cultural exchange. On May 15, an academic seminar titled “Thoroughly Implementing the Spirit of Xi Jinping’s Important Speech on the ‘May 17’ Anniversary and Striving to Build China's Independent Knowledge System of Humanistic Economics” was held at Renmin University of China (Suzhou Campus). The seminar was hosted by China’s Alliance for an Independent Knowledge System of Humanistic Economics and organized by Renmin University of China (Suzhou Campus) and the Suzhou Research Center for Humanistic Economy. Wang Xiaohu, Vice President of Renmin University of China, and Gu Wanyong, Chairman of Suzhou Federation of Social Sciences, attended and delivered speeches. Tang Jie, Executive Deputy Director of the Suzhou Campus Management Committee, presided over the event. Wang Xiaohu stated that building an independent knowledge system of humanistic economics is a glorious mission for social science researchers in the new era. At SuzhouSchool of Artificial Intelligence, Dean Ji Yanyong briefed the delegation on the school’s latest progress in empowering disciplinary development and supporting local economic and industrial growth. The two sides exchanged views on the academy’s research and application advances in three key areas: “AI+government services,” “AI +semiconductors,” and “AI+low-altitude economy.” Pippel commended the academy’s achievements in applying cutting-edge technologies and fostering industry integration. Alexandre de Navailles, President of KEDGE Business School, along with Frédéric Cozic, Vice President, and Nora Fuentes, Director of International Admissions and Development, visited the Suzhou campus on March 19. Co-hosted by Xinhua News Agency and Renmin University of China, the event centers on the theme “Recalling Hardships Through Images, Forging Responsibility with Original Aspirations, Striving to Be Pioneers.” . It innovatively created a new model for ideological and political education in universities through immersive image exhibitions and diverse interactive experiences.
