Pujiang Finance Forum: “Financial Powerhouse RUCtime” Held at Suzhou Campus

On December 14, the Pujiang Financial Forum : “Financial Powerhouse RUCtime” was held at Renmin University of China’s Suzhou Campus. Co-organized by the Pujiang Finance Forum Council, Renmin University Alumni Association, and other institutions, the forum centered on the theme “Financial Technology Innovation vs.Deepening Financial Services,” attracting over500 representatives fromgovernment, industry, academia, research, and investment sectors. Ma Huaide, President of Renmin University of China, and Gu Haidong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Suzhou, attended and delivered speeches. Ma Huaide has emphasized that high-quality financial development is integral to the overall advancement of Chinese modernization. He highlighted the university’s strengths in interdisciplinary integration and artificial intelligence, advocating for theoretical, collaborative, and open innovation to support the development of the Yangtze River Delta as a financial hub and contribute to global financial governance. Gu Haidong stated that Suzhou will continue to deepen the integration of technology and finance, optimize the business environment, and contribute“Suzhou’s strength”to building a financial powerhouse. During the forum, Wu Xiaoqiu, former Vice President of Renmin University of China and Dean of the National Institute of Financial Research, delivered a keynote speech. Wang Wen, Dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China, released the report “Vision 2050: Financial Powerhouse—China and the World.”Parallel sessions facilitated in-depth discussions on topics such as “How Financial Innovation Drives Technological Innovation”and“Theoretical Innovation in Technology Finance and Equity Investment Practices.” Since its inception in 2008, the Pujiang Finance Forum has adhered to its founding principles of “ideological leadership, alumni collaboration, national service, as well as openness and inclusiveness.” It has become a vital platform connecting alumni, bridging policy and practice, and linking theory with industry. Together with the "Yanshan Forum" and the "Zhonghuan Forum," it forms the "Financial Powerhouse RUCtime"series of flagship events.

Third Suzhou Forum on Humanistic Economics Held, Indicator System for China's Urban Humanities and Economic Development Released

The Third Suzhou Forum on Humanistic Economics was convened on January 14 atSuzhouCampus of Renmin University of China. Focusing on the theme "Humanistic Economics and High-Quality Development," the forum was jointly organized by Renmin University of China and the Suzhou Municipal People's Government. Attendees included officials from the Theoretical Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPCCentral Committee; Wang Chengbin, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Social Sciences; Liu Xizhong, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Social Sciences; Jin Jie, Member of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Head of the Publicity Department; and Wang Xiaohu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Renmin University of China. The event brought together over 300 representatives from universities, government departments, and think tanks across the country. In his address, Wang Xiaohu stated that Renmin University of China will continue to play a leading role in research, further the practice of humanistic economics in Suzhou, and focus on theoretical interpretation, experience summarization, and mutual learning among civilizations to contribute to Chinese modernization. Jin Jie emphasized that Suzhou is transforming its unique humanistic advantages into drivers for high-quality development, forming a closed loop of practice, research, promotion, and application. She expressed hope that the forum would pool wisdom to explore a path of symbiotic development between culture and the economy, offering more Suzhou experience. Wang Chengbin highlighted that the dynamic interaction between culture and the economy is becoming a significant engine for Chinese modernization.He expressed hope for deepening university-local collaboration to jointly paint a new picture of symbiotic coexistence and mutual prosperity between humanities and economics.. The forum invited experts including Jiang Xiaojuan, Hong Yinxing, Wang Xuedi, Sun Xing, and Gao Debu to deliver keynote speeches.They exploredtopics from digital governance and the connotations of humanistic economics to traditional culture and the economy, industrial aesthetics, and theoretical system construction. Song Lu, Executive Dean of School of Smart Governance at Renmin University of China, released Research Report on China's Urban Humanities Economy Development Indicator System. This report established a “tripartite six-directional” evaluation framework and conducted comparative analyses using Suzhou and Hangzhou as case studies. During the forum, Liu Xizhong, Shen Dan(Deputy Secretary-General of the Suzhou Municipal Government), and Zhang Xiaobo (Party Secretary ofSuzhou Campus of Renmin University of China), jointly inaugurated the Suzhou Key Laboratory for Big Data and Humanistic Economic Studies.Concurrently, the “Alliance for Building an Independent Knowledge System in Chinese Humanities Economics,” initiated by Renmin University of China and co-founded by multiple universities, was formally established. Jin Jie and Wang Xiaohu jointly launched the “Suzhou Visiting Scholar Program” for doctoral students nationwide. Using Suzhou's practice as a sample, this forum advanced theoretical construction and empirical research in humanistic economics, aiming to deepen the mutual empowerment of humanities and economics and serve the broader national development agenda.,

The "Grand Ideological and Political Education in Images-National University Premiere of the September 3rd Military Parade Exhibition" opens at Suzhou Campus of Renmin University of China

On the morning of November 6th, National University Premiere of the September 3rd Military Parade Exhibitionopens at the Suzhou Campus of Renmin University of China. Co-hosted by Xinhua News Agency and Renmin University of China, the event centers on the theme “Recalling Hardships Through Images, Forging Responsibility with Original Aspirations, Striving to Be Pioneers.” . It innovatively created a new model for ideological and political education in universities through immersive image exhibitions and diverse interactive experiences. Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, and Liu Jian, Deouty Director and Member of the Leading Party Members’Group of Xinhua News Agency, attended and delivered speeches. Wang Xiaohu,Standing Committee Member andVice President of Renmin University of China, presided over the event. Zhang Donggang pointed out that the exhibition is a concrete practice of implementing the spirit of Xi Jinping’s instructions on "remembering history, honoring the martyrs, cherishing peace and pioneering the future". The university will deepen its cooperation with Xinhua News Agency and promote the integrated construction of ideological and political education in primary, secondary and highereducation. Liu Jian pointed out that the exhibition has carefully selected 100 images from the military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. It is an innovative practice of integrating Xinhua News Agency's authoritative resources with ideological and political education in colleges and universities. A highlight reel of the 2015 military parade was screened during the event, followed by the unveiling ceremony conducted jointly by Zhang Donggang and Liu Jian. .During the thematic sharing session, Xinhua photographers and student representatives exchanged insights on the parade imagery.Zhang Donggang presented "Honorary Counselor" certificates to the student representatives and Xinhua News Agency reporters. Guests then toured the exhibition showcasing the 100 selected parade photographs. The exhibition will remain on display at Suzhou campus beforetouring universities nationwide. Renmin University of China will work with Xinhua News Agency to integrate national-level image resources and inject new vitality into the reform and innovation of ideological and political education in the new era.

Kedge Business School President Alexandre de Navailles Visits Suzhou Campus

On the morning of October 22nd, Alexandre de Navailles, Director General & President of Kedge Business School, and Céline Davesne, Associate Dean for Programmes and International, visited the Suzhou Campus. Tang Jie, Executive Vice Director of the Suzhou Campus Management Committee and Dean of the Sino-French Institute, welcomed Alexandre de Navailles and his delegation. Both parties reviewed the history and achievements of their cooperative education program, fully affirming the accomplishments of the Sino-French Institute. They engaged in in-depth discussions and reached consensus on further expanding two-way exchanges, adding new cooperative majors, enhancing the level of educational offerings, and exploring collaborations in continuing education. Alexandre de Navailles and Céline Davesne also engaged withinternational students from Kedge Business School studying in China, inquiring in detail about their study and life in Suzhou. The exchange students expressed that they not only enjoy the living environment and rich cultural atmosphere in China but are also deeply impressed by the country's rapid modernization achievements. China-Europe Civilization Forum Successfully Concluded in Italy

From September 22 to 23, China-Europe Civilization Forum : Artificial Intelligence and Smart Cities," jointly organized by Renmin University of China and Luiss University of Italy, was successfully held at Luiss University. Centered on the theme of "Mutual Learning Among Civilizations in the Digital Age," the conference delved into cutting-edge topics related to artificial intelligence technologies and the development of smart cities. Antonio Majocchi and Giuseppe Italiano, Vice Presidents of Luiss University, alongside Du Peng, former Vice President of Renmin University of China, Dean of the School of Population and Health, and Editor-in-Chief of the EPS journal, attended the opening session and delivered remarks. Antonio Majocchi emphasized that the conference marked a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two universities. Du Peng pointed out that smart city technologies were undergoing profound transformations, calling for concerted efforts from the international community to address emerging challenges. During the thematic seminars, scholars and professors from Renmin University of China, Luiss University, and Politecnico di Torino shared their research findings on topics such as AI governance effectiveness, financial applications, smart aging care, and innovative mobility. Participants highlighted that while AI was enhancing governance efficiency, it was also facing challenges such as privacy protection and algorithmic bias, necessitating the establishment of reliable governance frameworks. In his concluding remarks, Tang Jie, Dean of the School of Intelligent Governance at Renmin University of China, emphasized that the forum aimed to "calibrate technological direction through civilization dialogues." He expressed hope that this forum would serve as an opportunity to deepen China-Europe cooperation in areas such as joint research and faculty-student exchanges. During the conference, the two universities reached substantive action plans to further their collaboration. Participants from Renmin Univeristy also visited the Data Lab and the Enlabs/Zest Innovation Center of Luiss University. This conference effectively promoted academic dialogue and knowledge sharing between China and Europe in the fields of artificial intelligence and smart cities, laying a solid foundation for sustained future cooperation.

Renmin University of China (RUC) Suzhou Campus Holds Opening Ceremony for Class of 2025

On September 13th, Suzhou Campus held the opening ceremony to welcome new students in 2025. A total of 432 undergraduates, 274 master's students, 27 doctoral students, 49 international students, and 988 affliated school students from the International College, Sino-French College, School of Smart Governance, and the Suzhou Branch School of RDFZ participated in the ceremony. Attendees included Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China (RUC); Wang Du, Consul General of France in Shanghai; Dai Jieming, Education Consul of the Cultural and Educational Section at the Consulate General of France in Shanghai; Zhou Zhifang, Secretary of the Education Working Committee of the Suzhou Municipal Committee and Director of the Suzhou Municipal Education Bureau; Ni Qian, Member of the Working Committee of the Suzhou Industrial Park and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee; as well as faculty and staff representatives from departments and colleges of Renmin University of China, Suzhou Campus and Suzhou Branch School of RDFZ. Lin presented the school badges to the representatives of new students and delivered a speech. He stated that RUC is a university named after people, advancing alongside the Party and with the times. The noble spirit forged by its revolutionary heritage, the Shanbei Public Spirit shaped by its red history, and the pioneering character born of its revolutionary mission constitute the “three most precious treasures” shared by all members of the Renmin University.. The Suzhou Campus, part of the university's six major academies as the “Academy of Vision,” serves both as a bastion for inheriting the revolutionary legacy and continuing the revolutionary bloodline, and as an educational high ground integrating international perspectives, humanistic heritage, and innovative wisdom. Renmin University of China Hosts the Second Session of "Signature Concepts and Original Theories" Release and Symposium at Suzhou Campus

On September 13, the second session of the Renmin University of China Symposium and Release Event on "Signature Concepts and Original Theories" was held at the university’s Suzhou Campus. In attendance were Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China, and Wu Jiawei, Vice President of Soochow University, along with faculty and student representatives from Renmin University of China, Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Soochow University of Science and Technology, and other institutions. Lin Shangli emphasized that the world is currently undergoing a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation centered on artificial intelligence. Through strategic initiatives such as "Digital China" and "AI Plus," China has accumulated substantial experience in digital governance. However, a systematic theoretical framework in this area remains to be developed. Renmin University of China has pioneered the concept of “Smart Governance”,which integrates the wisdom of traditional Chinese governance with modern technology ethics, combining Chinese perspectives with a global outlook. The concept aims to construct a modern governance system suited to the digital era, establishing a new paradigm that integrates technological empowerment, institutional innovation, and value guidance. President Lin noted that the university has undertaken systematic explorations in smart governance through talent development, platform support, and product R&D. Going forward, efforts will focus on leveraging intelligence to enhance quality, applying wisdom to benefit the people, and advancing development through governance—thereby achieving new leaps in governance efficacy, elevating the level of technological empowerment, and revitalizing the development ecosystem. This will contribute to writing China’s chapter on "good governance" in the digital age. The meeting was chaired by Tang Jie, Secretary of the Party Committee of Suzhou Campus, Executive Deputy Director of the Suzhou Campus Management Committee, and Dean of the School of Smart Governance, who also presented the signature concept and original theory of "Smart Governance." The "Signature Concepts and Original Theories" release and symposium mechanism is an ongoing academic initiative launched by Renmin University of China in 2025. It is dedicated to presenting influential concepts and innovative theoretical perspectives across disciplines, transforming them into knowledge products that reflect Chinese characteristics, style, and vision. The initiative aims to advance the research and practical application of such concepts and theories, promote key innovations in China’s efforts to build an independent knowledge system, and support the flourishing development of philosophy and social sciences with distinctive Chinese features.

Renmin University of China (RUC) Suzhou Campus Holds 2025 Degree Conferment Ceremony

On June 20, 343 students from RUC Suzhou Campus participated in the 2025 Degree Conferment Ceremony . Attendees included Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council; Wang Xiaohu, Vice President of RUC; and Liu Bo, Vice Mayor of Suzhou. Representatives of faculty and staff from relevant departments and schools of RUC were also present to witness this sacred and memorable moment. Tang Jie, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Suzhou Campus, presided over the ceremony.   Zhang Donggang, Wang Xiaohu, and professors Jean-Francois VERGNAUD, Feng Shounong, Tang Jie, Jiang Xiaoli, Xu Wei, Yu Kun, and Hu Debao conferred degrees and hooded the graduates.. Zhang Donggang stated that we are now situated in an era of monumental scale and boundless possibilities, shouldering the great mission of serving the Party and national strategies, seizing unprecedented opportunities, and navigating a vast space full of potential. He extended his hopes to all graduates, urging them to embrace history and uphold their original aspirations. The First University Students’Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition on Artificial Intelligence and Smart Governance Held

On June 15, the final of the first University Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition on Artificial Intelligence and Smart Governance was held at the Suzhou National University Science and Technology Park of Nanotechnology. After strict evaluation and careful screening, high-quality projects from 15 teams entered the final roadshow as representatives, covering not only cutting-edge technology tracks such as chip production, intelligent manufacturing, and low-altitude economy, but also extending to people’s necessary fields such as health, elderly care, education, and urban renewal. The competition was co-sponsored by Renmin University of China, the Management Committee of Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation Zone, and Suzhou Yuanhe Holdings Co., Ltd., undertaken by the School of Smart Governance of Renmin University of China, Suzhou National University Science and Technology Park of Nanotechnology, Dushu Lake Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Port, and the Recruitment and Employment Office of Renmin University of China, and strongly supported by the Cultural Science and Technology Park of Renmin University of China and Suzhou Guoxin Technology Co., Ltd. Tang Jie, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Suzhou Campus of Renmin University of China, Zhou Yucai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation Zone, Liu Chengwei, Chairman and President of Suzhou Yuanhe Holdings Co., Ltd., and Zheng Jiang, Chairman of Suzhou Guoxin Technology Co., Ltd., delivered speeches.   Taking “Using Good Wisdom to Achieve Good Governance: Artificial Intelligence Empowering Smart Governance” as the theme, this competition is committed to promoting the innovative application and achievement transformation of artificial intelligence technology in the field of smart governance. More than 100 participating teams from over 40 universities conducted in-depth discussions on global governance challenges in the era of artificial intelligence, collided with ideological sparks, and proposed forward-looking and feasible governance innovation schemes. The competition was judged by front-line experts from industry, academia and research, and further smoothed the post-competition connection and incubation mechanism for excellent entrepreneurial project achievements, building a docking platform for young entrepreneurs with governments, enterprises, and investment institutions to promote the innovative application and achievement transformation of artificial intelligence technology in the field of smart governance.
